Stewart's in the Capital Region and the Adirondacks
Stewart's is everywhere between Saratoga Springs, Albany and the Adirondacks, and also in southern Vermont. In many small towns it is the only gas station for miles, so a free air pump there matters.
A few Stewart's locations sell no fuel and have no air machine. The map only shows shops with air.
How to use the air at Stewart's Shops
- Find your target pressure on the sticker inside the driver's door, not the maximum on the tire.
- Park so the hose reaches all four tires and unscrew the valve caps.
- On a digital machine, set the PSI first; on a plain hose, check the gauge often.
- Fill in short bursts until the reading matches, then put the caps back on.
Cold weather and your tires
Most Stewart's Shops locations on our map are in New York, where the average temperature drops from about 70 °F in July to 23 °F in January (NOAA). Tire pressure falls roughly 1 PSI for every 10 °F, so tires set correctly in summer are about 5 PSI low by midwinter. Check them monthly, and always when the low-pressure light comes on.
